No Vacancies

Why would I want to know you? I already have all my friends.
From school
from college
from uni
from work
from round the corner
and up the road
and down the pub
and church
and weight watchers
and mothers and toddlers.

I’ve already got enough friends.

Why would I want to know you?
I already have all my family.
My mother
and father
and aunts
and uncles
and sisters
and brothers
and cousins
and kids
and grandkids
I need no others in my life
my family is full.

There are no vacancies.

You haven’t got friends?
You need to get out and meet people!
Talk to the neighbours
go to church
and up the pub
out hiking
and to the gym
maybe dancing
take an art class
and I’m sure everyone will say –

I’ve already got enough friends.
